“In Their Shoes”

A short-form documentary in which several teenage boys bare their soles and reflect on their respective journeys in life.

Director’s Statement:

During the summer of 2019, I decided to abandon all notions of fear and apply to the highly competitive high school summer program at the USC School of Cinematic Arts. For six weeks I lived on campus, took college-level courses, and made several short films of my very own. Being one of the only women in a room that was primarily dominated by men, I decided to seize the opportunity to interview my male classmates and create a thought-provoking piece centered around our shared humanity. My summer at SCA taught me a panoply of powerful life lessons, the most important of which was that incredible things can happen when one decides to seize an opportunity - or put oneself in someone else's shoes for a while - without fear.

Created during the Summer Program at the USC School of Cinematic Arts, as part of the Beginning Digital Filmmaking/Practicum in Production class. Directed, photographed, & edited by Arianna Garcia.
